OUR HISTORY

In June 1990, the Family of God SDA Church began as a Sabbath School company with fifty-eight (58) members. These members were baptized in a Family Life Crusade held on the grounds adjacent to the Astor Theatre. The newly baptized members were to attend the church in closest proximity or the Spanish Town SDA Church. However, the new members decided to keep together and meet at the Willowdene High School’s Auditorium located at 58 Brunswick Avenue.

The congregation began to grow larger and it was inevitable that the small Sabbath School company would become an established church. In 1993, the Family of God Sabbath School Company became the Family of God Seventh-day Adventist Church. The church was 203rd church to be organized in the Central Jamaica Conference.  The church’s first pastor was Dr. Patrick Allen.

In June 2000, the Family of God SDA Church celebrated 10 years of existence and service to the community under the guidance of Pastor Levi Johnson. In 2001, the church was organized as part of district #7 along with the Crescent, Villmore and Irish Pen Seventh-day Adventist Churches.

The church was in need of a building and in 2002 the ground was broken for the new church with a Maranatha design. The building took approximately a year to be built and in January 2003, the members of the Family of God SDA Church moved into their new home. June 2010 was the 20th Anniversary of the Family of God S. D. A Church’s existence with Pastor Howard Grant as the shepherd.

Yeras later, the Family of God SDA Church remains committed to fulfilling the Great Commission of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
